About Mike Carina

Mike works in a variety of mediums, preferring the immediacy and spontaneity of watercolor. "Observational drawing is at the heart of what I do - when I'm not working, I'm documenting compositions in front of me in a sketchbook. . . at the corner bar, a National Park or while sorting laundry."

Mike graduated from the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota with a BFA in Illustration. His sketches and paintings reflect the spontaneity of everyday life with a sketchy, raw edge. He works traditionally in ink and watercolor using quick, frantic brushstrokes.
